Alex, a person with curly brown hair and blue eyes, smiles at the camera. Their body is facing Halemaʻumaʻu crater, and they hold a sketchbook. They are seated on a gravel trail surrounded by greenery.

About

I am a multimedia artist working in the San Francisco Bay Area, California (Chochenyo Ohlone land) and Northfield, Minnesota (Wahpekute Dakota land). I draw from themes of culture, religion, and disability. My work involves printmaking, gouache, pen and ink, fiber art, modifying 90’s and 2000’s toys, polaroids, the archive, and dead things I find on the side of the road.

I graduated Carleton College in June of 2025 having run the social media of two thriving clubs, as well as designed and cyanotype printed many, many shirts sold to benefit Carleton Mutual Aid.

I was awarded two fellowships, studied abroad, and received the Talia Goldenberg '12 Award in Studio Art.

Professional Experience

At Carleton College, I worked as a Web Content Creator at the Information and Technology Services Blog, where I interviewed Academic Technologists and writing articles on developments within the field and at Carleton. I also worked as a Curatorial Assistant at the Perlman Teaching Museum, where I researched and communicated with artists and assisted in curating exhibitions using their art and art from our permanent collection.

In the summer of 2023, I worked as an intern for FRONTRUNNER Magazine. There, I created Instagram Stories to promote their older articles, primarily via Canva.

I worked as a summer camp counselor at Urban Adamah in Berkeley, California for five years (2018-2023, excluding 2020). Working with children taught me a type of creativity and quick-thinking that I have continued to carry through the jobs I have had since.

Throughout high school, I gave workshops on gender, sexuality and Judaism to schools and retreats through Keshet. I continue to hold workshops in college, generally on queerness and Judaism as well as media bias in reporting on world conflicts.
